Drinkware is not a flat surface
This is the objection worth understanding before you commit to a tumbler line: everything about the product fights a flat design file.
This preview is flat, the tumbler is round
The tool composites your design onto a flat panel on the front of the body. It does not simulate a true cylindrical wrap. For a centred badge that's accurate enough to sell from; for art meant to run the whole way around, the mockup will look better than the product, because it never shows the parts curving out of sight.
A wrap has to end somewhere
Continuous wraps meet themselves, and where they meet there is a seam. Repeating patterns absorb it; a single continuous illustration or a horizon line does not, and neither does type that crosses the join. Suppliers also leave a gap near the base and the rim, so a design that runs to the edges of your file gets trimmed.
The finish decides the process
Full-colour sublimation needs a powder-coated or polymer-coated surface, which is why the matte and coloured tumblers take photographic art. Bare brushed steel has no coating to take the dye, so it's normally laser-engraved or UV-printed instead — usually one colour, with the metal showing through.

Is the tumbler mockup generator free?
Yes — 1200px PNGs and a .zip of all six finishes, with no watermark, no account and no email step. HD at 2048px is a single one-time unlock, not a subscription, and it leaves the free tier untouched.
Does this show a real wrap-around print?
No, and that's worth knowing. Your design is composited onto a flat front panel, so what you see is the front-facing view. It's a fair preview of a centred design and an optimistic one for a full wrap, which curves away at both sides in reality.
What shape artwork suits a tumbler?
Tall and narrow. The band on the tumbler body is far taller than it is wide, so vertical lockups, stacked type and slim illustrations fit naturally. Wide horizontal designs have to shrink to the band's width and end up much smaller than they look on screen.
Can I put a photo on a steel tumbler?
On a coated tumbler, yes — sublimation needs a polymer coating to bond to, which the matte and coloured finishes have. Bare brushed steel doesn't take sublimation dye, so photographic art generally isn't on the menu there; engraving or UV print is.
Can I use these tumbler mockups commercially?
Yes, in listings, ads, wholesale sheets and portfolios, with no attribution required. The blank tumbler templates themselves can't be redistributed as stock assets or built into a competing generator — the image license covers it.
