Small, square, and mostly porous
A coaster gives you less area than anything else here, on materials that mostly absorb rather than hold ink on the surface.
The smallest area in this tool
The printable face is a small square. Everything scales down: a logo that reads on a tote is illegible here, and a strapline usually has to go entirely. Coasters that sell are one strong mark or one short word — the constraint is the design brief.
Porous materials drink the ink
Cork and sandstone are absorbent by design — that absorbency is the point of a sandstone coaster. Ink and sublimation dye sink into the surface, so colours come out lighter, softer and lower in contrast than the file. Push saturation and weight up to compensate.
Stone and wood have their own pattern
Slate, marble and wood carry natural grain and veining, so no two coasters are identical and your design sits over a background you don't control. That's a selling point for a rustic or premium listing and a liability for anything that needs exact colour or a clean flat backdrop.

Coaster mockup questions
Is the coaster mockup generator free?

How big can a coaster design be?
Small. This is the smallest printable area in the tool — a compact square. Plan for one dominant mark rather than a mark plus a strapline plus a border, because at coaster scale the supporting elements stop being readable first.
Why do colours look weaker on cork and sandstone?
Because both are porous. They absorb the ink or dye rather than holding it on a coated surface, so output reads lighter and softer than your file. If you want punch on those materials, increase saturation and use heavier shapes than you would on a coated coaster.
Will every slate or marble coaster look the same?
No — stone has natural veining and wood has grain, so each piece differs. Customers generally read that as a feature. It does mean you can't promise an exact background, and a design that relies on a clean flat backdrop is better placed on the white coaster.
Can I sell coasters made with these mockups?
Yes — listings, wedding-favour pages, bar merch, ads and client work, with no attribution needed. You can't redistribute the blank coaster templates themselves as stock assets or in a competing generator. See the image license.
