Fleece, folds and soft focus
Two things separate a blanket from every flat surface here: it is displayed folded, and its surface is pile rather than weave.
You are seeing a fold, not the whole blanket
The mockup shows the throw as a shop or a lifestyle photo shows it — folded, with one face exposed. A full-size design printed across the whole blanket will extend well beyond what's visible here. Design for the open blanket, then check that the part landing on the fold is a part worth showing.
Pile scatters light and softens edges
Fleece has a raised nap. Light bounces around in it, so contrast drops, dark colours lift and crisp edges go slightly fuzzy. Hairline rules and small type lose definition in a way they don't on cloth or paper. Large shapes, generous type and strong colour separation survive it.
Fleece sublimates, woven cotton does not
The photographic, full-colour throws you see on marketplaces are polyester fleece decorated by sublimation. A woven cotton or wool throw can't take that dye — those get woven or jacquard patterning instead, which is a different manufacturing route with different artwork requirements entirely.

Blanket mockup questions
Is the blanket mockup generator free?
Yes — a 1200px PNG for each throw and a .zip of the set, with no watermark, no signup and no email wall. HD at 2048px is a single one-time unlock, not a recurring charge.
Why is the blanket shown folded?
Because that's how throws are photographed for listings and how they sit on a sofa in a customer's home. The trade-off is that you're seeing one face of a fold, not the whole printed area — the rest of your design continues out of shot.
Why does my design look softer on fleece?
Fleece is a pile surface, so light scatters in the nap instead of reflecting off a flat plane. Edges soften, contrast falls and fine linework fills in. Bigger shapes, heavier type and stronger colour separation are what hold up.
Can I print a photograph on a blanket?
On polyester fleece, yes — sublimation is what makes full-colour photographic throws possible. Woven cotton and wool throws can't take sublimation dye at all; those are patterned during weaving, which needs completely different artwork.
Can I use these blanket mockups commercially?
Yes — listings, ads, gift guides, client presentations, with no attribution required. What's off limits is redistributing the blank throw templates themselves as stock or inside a competing generator. See the image license.
